Before this EMG pickup model was introduced, existing 8-string guitar pickups sounded muddy and dull on the low B string, especially when trying to hit artificial and natural harmonics, but the EMG 808X pickup eliminates those problems. Featuring Alnico V, loaded, wide-aperture coils, EMG was able to beef up that low B tone and at the same time provide a more responsive and super-tight overall sound.
