The Jet-Tone DS Classic reissue trumpet mouthpiece is built to the specifications of the original DS mouthpiece, famous for an expanded high register while retaining good, fat sound. Jet-Tone mouthpieces were legendary throughout the '60s and '70s as commercial trumpet players sought to expand their range, and as trumpeters like Bill Chase and Maynard Ferguson (who both played Jet-Tone) were among the world's most popular trumpeters. Al Hirt and many others were Jet-Tone users as well. The Jet-Tone brand was in danger of disappearing altogether, but was recently revitalized and reintroduced with strict conformity to the original specifications. This includes the Jet-Tone JT DS. The "V" cup offers more resistance and is good for strong high-note players or jazz band players seeking to expand their upper register.
